Who I am
This site belongs to Mark Mitchell Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company number 12981600. Registered office: Workhub 12 Station Parade, Harrogate, HG1 1UE. In this policy, “I” and “me” mean Mark Mitchell Ltd, the data controller.
The short version: I collect only what I need to reply to you and keep the site safe. I don’t sell your data, run adverts or use tracking cookies.
For anything about your data, email hello@markmitchell.me or write to Mark Mitchell Ltd, Workhub, 12 Station Parade, Harrogate HG1 1UE.
What I collect and why
| What | What it includes | Why | Lawful basis |
|---|---|---|---|
| Contact form | Your name, email address and message | To reply and arrange a call | Legitimate interests, and steps before a contract when you ask about working together |
| Emails you send me | Your name, email address and what you write | To reply and keep a record of our conversation | Legitimate interests; contract once we work together |
| Server logs | IP address, date and time, page requested, browser type | To keep the site running and fix faults | Legitimate interests |
| Security checks | IP address and browser signals | To block spam, bots and attacks | Legitimate interests |
| Analytics | Pages viewed, how you arrived, device type | To see how the site is used (see below) | Legitimate interests |
The contact form isn’t stored on the website. It arrives as an email in my inbox. I don’t make automated decisions about you.
Analytics and how to opt out
I measure the site with True Track™, my cookie-free analytics set-up, which runs on a specialist analytics provider’s servers in Frankfurt, Germany. It counts visits, pages viewed, how you arrived and your type of device. It sets no cookies and doesn’t follow you to other sites.
To count visits without cookies, it reads basic details your browser sends, such as browser type and screen size. Your IP address is shortened before it’s stored, so it can’t identify you. Visits by logged-in site administrators aren’t recorded.
UK law allows this kind of statistical measurement without consent, as long as you can opt out easily. You can opt out here at no cost, and your browser will remember the choice.
Cookies
This site doesn’t set cookies for visitors. WordPress sets cookies only when an administrator logs in.
Cloudflare, which protects and speeds up the site, may set a strictly necessary security cookie to tell people from bots. If you opt out of analytics, a small cookie remembers that choice.
Who else handles your data
These providers handle data for me, on my instructions and under their data processing terms. I don’t sell your data or share it for advertising.
| Provider | What it does | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Akamai (Linode) | Hosts the website server | London, UK |
| Cloudflare | Security, spam checks (Turnstile) and fast delivery of the site | Global network, including the US |
| Google Workspace | Email, including contact-form messages | Google data centres, including the US |
| Analytics provider | Analytics (True Track™) | Frankfurt, Germany |
| Google Fonts, Google’s code library service, cdnjs (Cloudflare) | Deliver the site’s fonts and code files; they see your IP address when your browser fetches them | Global, including the US |
| Wordfence | Security plugin that blocks attacks | Runs on my server in London |
Where data leaves the UK, it’s protected by UK adequacy regulations or the UK’s approved contract clauses.
How long I keep it
| Data | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Enquiries that don’t lead to work | 2 years from our last contact |
| Client emails and records | 6 years after the work ends, for tax and legal reasons |
| Server logs | 14 days, then deleted automatically |
| Analytics visit data | 12 months; after that only totals remain |
